CCJE hosts seminar on Community-Based Treatment Programs for 3rd year BS Crim students
The College of Criminal Justice Education successfully conducted a seminar on Community-Based Treatment Programs Focused on Parole and Probation at the UNP auditorium on March 10, 2025. Organized by Dr. Wilson R. Tolio, Dr. Loida Rilveria and Ms. Janel Marie Abero, subject instructors of the 3rd year Bachelor of Science in Criminology (BS Crim) students enrolled in CA 2 Non-Institutional Corrections, the seminar aimed to deepen students’ understanding of alternative rehabilitation methods outside traditional incarceration.
The event featured Ms. Jacqueline Quatchon as the resource speaker, who provided an in-depth discussion on the Parole and Probation Administration (PPA) and its three-fold function in the criminal justice system. Ms. Quatchon emphasized the significance of PD 968, as amended, and how community-based treatment programs help reintegrate individuals into society while ensuring public safety.
The seminar served as a platform for Criminology students to gain practical insights into non-institutional correctional measures, fostering a greater appreciation for rehabilitative justice. Interactive discussions and case studies further enriched the learning experience, preparing future law enforcers to adopt a more restorative approach in dealing with offenders.
With the growing importance of alternative sentencing and rehabilitation, this seminar reinforced the role of Criminology education in shaping professionals who uphold justice with compassion and effectiveness.
