CCJE spearheads meeting with parents of senior students

 

The College of Criminal Justice Education (CCJE) led by the dean, Dr. Sina C. Bestre, hosted a productive consultation meeting at the CBAA Function Hall on November 13, 2024. This event was designed to unite parents and fourth year BS Criminology students, focusing on fundamental preparations for Practicum 1 and 2.

Dr. Arlan G. Reburon, program head of BS Criminology, highlighted the significance of this milestone in the academic journey of the students. Following this, Prof. Myline C. Aleson, assistant dean, presented the College’s mission, vision, goals, and objectives, as well as the UNP Quality Policy, that established a solid groundwork for the meeting.

The introduction of the advisers for the fourth-year students marked an invaluable part, emphasizing the unwavering commitment of faculty members to support students as they maneuver their practicum experience.

After which, Prof. Lorna C. Navarro (on-the-job training coordinator) made a comprehensive presentation covering various agendas. Among the key topics addressed were the implementing rules for Practicum 1 and 2, which are vital course requirements for fourth-year criminology students.

The discussion then turned to the guidelines regarding the appropriate attire for OJT, specifically focusing on the Type A, Type B, and Sports Uniform alternatives.

She emphasized the advantages of enabling students to venture beyond traditional classroom settings during their educational experiences. This approach not only enriches their academic journey but also equips them for active participation in their future professions.

Participants were provided with a comprehensive overview of the CHED Memorandum Order guidelines, equipping students and parents with the necessary information to be well-prepared.

Further, the University President, Dr. Erwin F. Cadorna, along with the Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Rolando B. Navarro, delivered uplifting messages to the parents. They extended their congratulations to both parents and students for their dedication and hard work, while also motivating them to continue striving towards graduation. Their remarks highlighted the significance of commitment and resilience as students navigate this key phase in their educational journeys.

Dr. Sina C. Bestre, the Dean, concluded the meeting by expressing her gratitude for the active involvement of parents and students. Dr. Bestre reiterated CCJE’s dedication to providing students with the necessary support during their practicum and beyond, motivating all individuals to accept the challenges that lie ahead with confidence and persistence.
