CHS marks EMS week with health and wellness outreach for elderly in Magsingal

The College of Health Sciences (CHS) of the University of Northern Philippines continued its 2nd EMS week celebration with a wellness and outreach program for senior citizens on April 11, 2025, at Balay Taripato.

The event, titled “Aging Gracefully: Training on Nurturing Mind, Body, and Spirit Across Genders and Cultures Cum Outreach Program and Physical Check-up,” focused on promoting overall well-being for underserved elderly communities. It featured wellness workshops and basic health check-ups designed to support healthy aging.

The activity was held in partnership with Balay Taripato, a local care facility, and supported by several organizations. Naval Military Lodge and CHS faculty distributed essential goods to the residents. The Rotary Club of Vigan and the Philippine Nurses Association (PNA) Ilocos Sur Chapter provided canes to elderly participants to aid mobility and safety.

This initiative aligns with global efforts to improve access to health services and promote inclusive community care. It supports several united Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being), SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).

CHS faculty and volunteers underscored the importance of supporting older adults through continued engagement, health monitoring, and collaboration with local and national partners.
