CHTM joins 17th Philippine Food Expo – Culinary Challenge

The College of Hospitality and Tourism Management (CHTM) of the University of Northern Philippines proudly participated in the 17th Philippine Food Expo – Culinary Challenge held from April 4 to 6, 2025, at the World Trade Center in Metro Manila.

The competition featured dynamic faculty-student tandems who showcased their skills across various categories. Mr. Victorino Bersamina II and student Jay Ar Magaoay, coached by Mr. Jemson Barisoro, emerged as champions in the Philippine Regional Table Setting with Table Centerpiece. In the Healthy Pasta category, Dr. Rogelio Quario and student Kevin Nicoli Rabena earned third place, mentored by Dr. Kevin Cesar Martinez. The Modern Filipino Dessert team, composed of Mr. Dave Angelo Asuncion and student Fionah Mickaela Eugenio, secured fourth place under the same coach. Additionally, Ms. Krizel Anne Molleno and Ms. Junella Flores represented CHTM in the Philippine Food Expo Knowledge Challenge, also guided by Mr. Barisoro.

This significant exposure provided faculty members and students with a platform to refine their culinary skills and gain insights from top professionals in the food and hospitality industry. The activity aligns with the university’s goals of providing quality instruction and promoting student achievements in national competitions. It also supports the Sustainable Development Goals and highlights gender equality in student participation. This engagement further elevates the university’s standing in the hospitality education sector.
