CHTM revives cultural tradition through puto and bibingka making
The College of Hospitality and Tourism Management (CHTM), BS Hospitality Management Core Faculty in collaboration with the Students Organization organized the Puto and Bibingka Making Workshop, held in Cabittaogan, Sta. Catalina, Ilocos Sur, on November 28, 2024.
The event aimed to revive and celebrate the region’s rich culinary heritage by teaching participants the traditional art of making puto and bibingka. This initiative allowed attendees to reconnect with their cultural roots while acquiring practical skills that could lead to potential livelihood opportunities.
Beyond preserving culinary traditions, the workshop highlighted the university’s commitment to fostering community development through knowledge-sharing and collaboration. The workshop promoted traditional food production and encouraged sustainable practices while supporting local entrepreneurship and economic empowerment.
Through the joint efforts of faculty and students, the event served as a testament to the power of collaboration in preserving cultural identity, enhancing skills, and creating opportunities for community betterment.
