CN raises Breast Cancer Awareness through Radio Program

In continuous celebration of Women’s Month, the University College of Nursing (CN) hosted a radio health education special titled, “Empowering Women’s Health: A Radio Special on Breast Cancer Awareness”, on March 26, at DWNP Radio Station. This aimed to educate women on the importance of early breast cancer detection, risk reduction strategies, and available treatment options.

This initiative, part of the C-A-R-E Program (Community Assistance, Rehabilitative, and Empowerment Program), was facilitated by Dr. Epifania Marlene Purisima, BSN Program Head Coordinator, who also discussed the practical skills for early detection of breast cancer.

The program, anchored by Julius Cesar Tabutol, a Master of Arts in Nursing (MAN) student, featured insightful discussions led by April Ann Flores, also a MAN student, who provided an in-depth lecture on breast cancer awareness, highlighting key risk factors and prevention strategies.

By leveraging radio as a platform, the initiative reached a wide audience, reinforcing the College’s commitment to community health education. This impactful initiative underscores the College of Nursing’s dedication to public health literacy and preventive care. Through programs like SALWAD SALUN-AT, the institution continues to champion accessible health education, demonstrating leadership in community-based healthcare advocacy.
