CoE pins, caps Batch Sinagtala

The College of Engineering held its second Hard Hatting and Pinning Ceremony on July 8, 2024 at the University Gymnasium for Batch SINAGTALA under the three programs offered in the college: Civil, Sanitary, and Geodetic Engineering.

The ceremonial hard hatting and pinning commenced from a procession of the incoming fourth year students with their parents, college administrators, faculty and staff, university officials and the guest speaker.

Engr. Franklyn T. Amistad stated that the significance of the event is to show that the College is now ready to deploy the students in the different partner agencies to bridge the gap between theory and practice.

University President Erwin F. Cadorna reminded the students that they need to protect themselves by wearing their personal protective equipment. Also, as they use their PPEs, they must be reminded that they are also wearing the University’s name.

Engr. Christian Q. Doria, the guest speaker, a native of Caoayan, Ilocos Sur, and the current operations manager of Metro Vigan Water District said that he became an engineer because his parents believed in him.

He pleaded with the parents who attended not to give up on their sons and daughters for they needed them more than anyone in this world. He also inspired everyone with his story that he was once a construction worker during weekends and semestral breaks in his college days.

“Shoot for the moon and when you miss, you will still be among the stars. We may encounter many defeats, but we should not be defeated,” he stated.

The batch rendered a song entitled “Next in Line,” which means that they are now ready to be in the roaster of future engineers of their domains.
