CoE celebrates victory of new engineers
The College of Engineering celebrated the victory of 43 sanitary engineers and 51 civil engineers at the gymnasium on May 14, 2024.
The College had a passing rate of 73.08% over the national passing rate of 72.00% and 42.59% over the national passing rate of 39.27% for the Sanitary Engineer Licensure Examination in February 2024 and Civil Engineer Licensure Examination in April 2024, respectively.
The celebration started with a motorcade around Metro Vigan, followed by a thanksgiving mass celebrated by Rev. Fr. Ramelle J. Rigunay. In his homily, he added meaning to SE and CE as Sincerely Excellent and Consistently Excellent.
During the testimonial luncheon, Dean Nelia P. Verzosa extended her warmest greetings and congratulations to the 93 honorees. She emphasized in her message the essence of listening to the testimonies of the passers for the students to learn how to prepare for their lessons and the board exams in the future.
Dr. Rolando B. Navarro, Vice President for Academic Affairs, wished the passers a brighter future ahead and challenged the College to engage more on faculty development to produce more engineers and topnotchers in the various examinations for engineers.
The former Alumni Regent and now City Councilor of Vigan, Engr. Nestor B. Pajaro, advised the new engineers not to be in a hurry. “Exams in engineering, any field of engineering, are one of the hardest, and I don’t want to go back to those days. With that, congratulations for passing a difficult exam,” he added.
Selected passers shared their experiences during their college days and their preparations for the board exam. They also imparted valuable lessons about time, honesty, and humility. Engr. Chavit G. Abalos, passer of CELE April 2024, highlighted in his testimony that for students to pass their subjects, they inculcate in their minds that they know nothing, hence the need to study more.
The celebration ended with the challenge of the assistant dean, Engr. Fanklyn T. Amistad, that the students live with the values from the testimonies of the passers and to give testimonies in the future as well.
