College of Nursing conducts Mock Board Examination to strengthen students’ readiness for the NLE

The College of Nursing administered its 1st Term Mock Board Examination for AY 2025–2026 on November 21, 2025, offering graduating students a rigorous simulation of the Nurse Licensure Examination designed to sharpen their competence, reinforce test readiness, and build confidence ahead of the national board.

The Mock Board Examination, held at the College of Technology Function Hall, brought together Level IV BSN students under the guidance of faculty members Dr. Matt Joseph Cabanting, Prof. Ariel Paiste, and Prof. Iann Fontano. Designed to replicate the rigor of the actual Nurse Licensure Examination (NLE), the simulation tested not only the students’ grasp of core nursing concepts but also their clinical judgment and analytical abilities under real exam conditions.

The mock examination also functioned as an essential diagnostic tool, offering clear insights into both the students’ strengths and the concepts that require further reinforcement. The results will guide learners in fine-tuning their review strategies, while providing faculty with valuable data to enhance instruction and align teaching approaches with emerging performance trends.

The simulation also proved instrumental in easing test-related anxieties, giving students the opportunity to rehearse under conditions that closely resembled the actual Nurse Licensure Examination. By navigating a structured testing environment, examinees were able to sharpen crucial professional competencies—including time management, composure under pressure, and self-discipline—that are vital to success in both the licensure exam and real-world nursing practice.

The conduct of the Mock Board Examination highlights the College of Nursing’s unwavering commitment to shape competent, confident, and board-ready graduates equipped to meet the rigorous standards of the profession.

This activity supports SDG 4 by enhancing learning outcomes, ensuring high-quality training, and strengthening graduates’ readiness for professional licensure and practice.
