As a tribute to often-overlooked members of society, the University of Northern Philippines – College of Teacher Education launched a photo exhibit titled, “Babae sa Lahat ng Sektor, Aangat ang Bukas sa Bagong Pilipinas” on March 29, 2025, at the Academic Building’s second floor lobby.
The exhibit featured compelling images of marginalized women—those with disabilities, Indigenous peoples, skilled workers, farmers, fisherfolk, SME owners, and more—whose contributions to society are frequently underrecognized. The theme aimed to challenge the traditional spotlight on women in professional sectors and honor the diverse roles women play in national development.
Led by Dr. Joey-Nell Marzan, the exhibit displayed the works of eleven young photographers from various undergraduate programs. Prior to the photo walk, the student photographers attended a lecture that gave insight into the lives and challenges faced by marginalized women.
The project sought to amplify awareness within the UNP community that empowerment and inclusion must extend to all sectors. More than an artistic display, the photo exhibit served as an educational and reflective experience—reminding students and staff that no one should be left behind in the journey toward a more equitable society.
In line with Women’s Month celebrations and global gender frameworks, the initiative reinforced the message that inclusivity, diversity, and respect are essential for building a progressive nation.
