Faculty members of the College of Teacher Education led the opening of the International Collaborative Lecture Series with Universitas Teknokrat Indonesia (UTI) on Friday, January 23, 2026, via Zoom, marking another step in the University of Northern Philippines’ international academic engagement.
The event brought together scholars from both institutions to discuss cultural preservation, digital literacy, and mathematics education. It also highlighted UNP’s College of Teacher Education and its commitment to Sustainable Development Goal 17 on partnerships for development.
Dr. Matilde Concordia, a faculty member of the Bachelor of Physical Education program and Bachelor of Secondary Education PE, presented on the integration of traditional Ilocano games into physical education to promote fitness and cultural heritage. She was joined by UTI faculty member Triyanto, M.Pd., who delivered a separate lecture on sport hypnosis and its role in enhancing athletic performance and motivation.
Dr. Honorato Patubo, a faculty member of the Bachelor of Secondary Education and Master of Arts in Teaching English, presented on media literacy and critical reading as tools for navigating misinformation. His session was complemented by UTI’s Khairani Putri Salsya, M.Pd., who discussed the role of critical reading in improving English proficiency and reading scores.
Dr. Mark Angelo Reotutar, faculty member of Bachelor of Secondary Education and Master of Arts in Mathematics Education, led a presentation on practice-based approaches in mathematics teacher education and clinical training models. He was joined by UTI’s Refiesta Ratu Anderha, M.Pd., who spoke on the role of artificial intelligence in mathematics education.
University officials said the collaboration reflects UNP’s continuing internationalization efforts and its growing presence in the ASEAN academic community.
Both UNP and UTI expressed commitment to sustaining the lecture series as a platform for continued academic exchange and cooperation.
