DLH conducts visual arts seminar-workshop
In celebration of the National Arts Month, the Department of Languages and Humanities conducted a Seminar-Workshop on Visual Arts on February 23, 2024 with the theme “Ani ng Sining Bayang Malikhain.” It was participated in by the faculty members in the Department who are presently teaching and who will be teaching Art Appreciation.
The activity aims to equip the participants with an understanding of visual arts in various media, the conservation and restoration of artwork, the protection and care of artwork and architecture, and ultimately the conservation of our Filipino cultural heritage.
The activity also seeks to encapsulate the notion that the bountiful harvest of a Filipino creative nation is drawn from the products of human imagination, innovation, and artistic expression and essential contribution to the Filipino nation’s development and cultural richness.
Dr. Ceasar Ziggy Q. Perlas, one of the faculty members in the College of Fine Arts and Design, served as the resource speaker. He shared his expertise along visual arts (painting) of different genres and styles (abstract, realism, cubism, expressionism, impressionism, pop art and contemporary); the different mediums of art, brush technique, historical significance, artistic merit, and cultural importance; and how to improve painting.
This activity was spearheaded by Prof. Irene T. Aguilar with the full support and supervision of the Department Head, Prof. Allen Magdaleno A. de Vera.
