DMNS renews partnership with Daclapan Elementary School

The Department of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (DMNS) under the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS), University of Northern Philippines (UNP), formally renewed its Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with Daclapan Elementary School on August 29, 2025 strengthening its commitment to quality education and sustainable community engagement.

The renewal of partnership was spearheaded by DMNS under the leadership of Dr. Restituto Llagas Jr., together with organizers Digna Jacob and Jenny Grace Almazan. Present during the ceremony were Dr. Lloyd Mata, Director of the University Extension Office and Assistant Dean of CAS; Dr. Remigio Obrero, representing CAS Dean Dr. Remedios Navarro; Mr. Gilbert Asuncion, Head Teacher of Daclapan Elementary School; and Ms. Estrella Gino, SPTA Representative. The event was witnessed by teachers, pupils, and parents, with the strong support of UNP President Dr. Erwin F. Cadorna.

Aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the partnership continues DMNS’s flagship program, “Math-tuto ka sa Natural na Siyensiya,” which focuses on literacy and numeracy, teacher training, research dissemination, and ecological protection.

As part of department’s engagement, DMNS also introduced a Training on Body Mechanics facilitated by Dr. Alma Segimundo and Dr. Denesse Jane Meresen. The training equipped teachers, staff, and parents with safe lifting and movement techniques to prevent injuries, improve efficiency, and promote overall well-being.
This renewal of partnership reflects the shared vision of DMNS and Daclapan Elementary School in fostering education, health, and sustainable development through meaningful collaboration.
