The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) successfully awarded the stipends to 139 deserving student grantees from the University of Northern Philippines(95), Ilocos Sur Polytechnic State College- College of Arts and Sciences Tagudin Campus (2), Ilocos Sur Community College (39), Divine Word College of Vigan (2), and Saint Paul College of Ilocos Sur (1). This event took place at the UNP Auditorium on August 15, 2025, and was made possible through the congressional fund of First District Representative Ronald V. Singson.
In his inspirational speech, Congressman Singson underscored the vital role of support and assistance for students who are dedicated to completing their education. He reaffirmed his commitment to fostering collaboration with State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) by allocating funds to ensure eligible students receive essential scholarships like the CHED Tulong Dunong Program (TDP).
Hon. Albert Tejero, Vice President for Finance and Administration, who represented President Erwin Cadorna, urged the student beneficiaries to recognize and appreciate the continuous support provided by the government. He emphasized that this assistance is a crucial investment in their futures.
The program concluded with a powerful message from Engineer Leonora F. Quarte, Education Supervisor II of CHED-Region I. She inspired the grantees to take pride in their status as CHED-TDP scholars and to embody the hope and potential they represent for their communities.
The event was also attended by Sanggunian Panlalawigan Members Doc Art Oandasan, Third Ranches, and Reymark Rafanan, along with Mr Jeffrey R. Valencia, assistant head for scholarship and financial assistance of UNP, and Ms Melvie Legaspina, and Marlon Padua, Project Technical staff from CHED RO1 facilitated the stipend distribution.
