GCS holds virtual orientation for New OU students

The Guidance and Counseling Services (GCS), under the Student Welfare Services Office (SWSO) of the Office of Student Affairs and Services (OSAS), conducted the “Panagpasangbay 2025”, a virtual orientation program for all new Open University students for the 2nd term of SY 2024-2025 on February 21, via Zoom Meeting.

The program, officially inaugurated by Dr. Wilson Tolio, Open University Assistant Dean, aimed to integrate the new students into the university’s academic, cultural, and social climate.

Further, the program focused on addressing different information that new Open University students may expect as they start their university journey, this includes the University’s history, vision, mission, and quality policy, followed by a multimedia presentation of the university officials prepared by the University Information Office.

Present also on the said program were Dr. Mariano Paterno Avila, on behalf of Dr. Rolando Navarro, Dr. Dolores Bersamina, Dr. Rodel Rosario, Atty. Christian Philip Chan, Ms. Laarnie Roque, and Ma. Marieglo Presto, who all played an important role in informing the students about the general, and Open University academic policies and procedures, composition, mandates, objectives, and organizational structure of the Office of Student Affairs and Services.

In addition, discussed also were about data privacy, specifically Republic Act 10173, the Data Privacy Act of 2012, the university security policy and the rules and regulations, and information about library services.

This initiative greatly contributes to the fulfillment of the university’s vision.
