GCS spearheads Growing Beyond Loss session

The Guidance and Counseling Services, under the Office of Student Affairs and Services—Student Welfare Services Office, held its annual Alternative Family Living Arrangement activity on May 20, 2025 at the Guidance and Counseling Office. This year’s event, themed, “Navigating Grief and Building Resilience: Growing Beyond Loss,” focused on supporting students coping with the loss of a parent.

Dr. Rodel Rosario, assistant head of the Guidance and Counseling Services, led the session as the learning resource provider. His discussion centered on practical strategies for navigating grief, emphasizing that while loss is a profound challenge, it can also be a motivation for personal growth and resilience. The activity provided a safe space for students to share their experiences, learn coping mechanisms, and connect with peers facing similar circumstances.

The initiative highlighted the importance of accessible mental health resources and compassionate guidance in helping young people process grief and move forward with hope. The activity is clear evidence of the University’s commitment to student welfare, ensuring that those experiencing family loss receive the understanding and support they need to thrive academically and personally.
