Graduating students face board exam jitters head-on

The seminar titled “Empowering Minds: Strategies to Conquer Test Anxiety,” held on May 14, 2025, at the College of Technology Complex Function Hall, effectively addressed the challenge of test anxiety among graduating college students at the University of Northern Philippines.

Ms. Marie Cris Mendoza, a faculty member of the Department of Social Science and Philosophy and the Learning Resource Provider, emphasized the importance of courage over fear, reminding students that “Fear is a reaction, courage is a decision.” This served as a motivational anchor throughout the event.

The said activity was spearheaded by the Guidance and Counseling Services under the Student Welfare Services Office—Office of the Student Affairs Services, targeting the graduating college students with board examination courses. Included in the bunch are the BS Midwifery second-year students and students from the graduate school, particularly the Master of Arts in Guidance and Counseling students. Through the interactive discussion, the students are provided with practical tools on how to manage board examination jitters and ways to develop confidence and a mindset of empowerment to help them transform the testing experience into an opportunity for personal growth and self-discovery, further instilling in them skills that extend far beyond the four corners of the examination room.
