ICTO conducts comprehensive training, ensures readiness for system upgrades

The recent training program titled, “Unlocking New Possibilities (UNP): Users Training for the Upgraded Student Information and Accounting System (SIAS)” was executed by the Information & Communications Technology Office (ICTO) in collaboration with the Offices of the Vice President for Finance and Administration (OVPFAd) and Academic Affairs (OVPAA). It was conducted on December 11–12, 2024, this initiative marks a significant step in the university’s efforts to modernize its operational frameworks.

The training aimed to enhance the skills and knowledge of system end-users, enabling them to fully leverage the upgraded SIAS. By improving service delivery for students, faculty, and other stakeholders, the training is expected to instill confidence among users and reduce operational errors. Participants received comprehensive guidance on the system’s capabilities, ensuring they are well-prepared to fulfill their responsibilities effectively.

At the heart of the upgraded SIAS is a commitment to innovation. The user interface has been designed for ease of use and includes robust security measures for data protection, alongside sophisticated tools for managing academic and financial records. These enhancements align with the institution’s goals of optimizing data management and enhancing institutional performance. However, the success of these upgrades is contingent upon the end-user capabilities of faculty and administrative staff, which were a focal point during the training sessions.

To deliver this essential training, the university engaged Mr. Jay Lord Brotonel, a senior IT specialist, and Mr. Lloyd Dan Pangilinan, a technician supports I from Digital Software Technology Consultancy. They provided hands-on instruction to end-users from various core offices, including the ICT Office, Registrar’s Office, Accounting Office, and Admission Services. Mr. Brotonel specifically focused on demonstrating processes related to incoming first-year students’ applications, enrollment, and fee payments. The trainers ensured that all participants received tailored support through practical training that emphasized system functionalities.

This training program does not only manifest the institution’s deep commitment to adapting to the world of technology but also serves as an expression of an interest in creating an improvement culture. It is also considered as an investment for building a culture of excellence and innovation at every operational level.

As the institution transforms, the upgraded SIAS will redefine the standards for data management, ensuring efficient, safe, and user-friendly processes. This upgrade contributes to the university’s goal of positioning itself as a technologically advanced institution, offering services that meet the high standards of the academic community and beyond.
