The Master of Art in Guidance and Counseling (MAGC) students of the College of Arts and Sciences, in collaboration with the Student Welfare Services Offices of the Office of the Student Affairs and Services, conducted a Structured Learning Experience titled “Lead with Wellness, Serve with Purpose: Achieving Work-Life Harmony” on April 26, 2025,at Zone 1, Bantay, Ilocos Sur. The activity that involved barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) officials and members was designed to address the challenges the community leaders face in balancing their demanding public service roles with personal well-being.
The event commenced with opening remarks from Barangay Captain Hon. Edgar Bamba, who emphasized the importance of wellness and purposeful leadership. The program employed a 4A’s instructional model. It began with collaborative games across nine stations, followed by an analysis session where participants shared their strategies and feelings. Ms. Alexis Pearl Concordia, a registered nurse and UNP alumna, led the abstraction phase, providing insights on health and wellness helping barangay and SK officials understand the importance of self-care and stress management as they balance their demanding community responsibilities. The session concluded with participants writing personal self-care pledges.
In her closing remarks, Dr. Marifel Acena, Program Head, MAGC, commended the participants and emphasized the importance of maintaining a healthy work-life balance. Through structured discussions, practical strategies, and reflective exercises, the activity equipped participants with the skills and knowledge needed to manage stress, foster self-care, and lead with resilience, responding directly to a needs assessment highlighting the stress and fatigue experienced by officials.
