Master of Statistics and Master of Arts in Nursing earn Level II Accreditation Status

The University of Northern Philippines (UNP) has achieved another milestone as its Master of Statistics (MOS) and Master of Arts in Nursing (MAN) programs successfully passed the Level II Accreditation Survey conducted by the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP) from July 28 to August 1, 2025. This accomplishment reaffirms UNP’s unwavering dedication to academic excellence, quality assurance, and the continuous enhancement of its graduate education programs.

During the five-day survey visit, the AACCUP accreditors carried out a comprehensive assessment of the ten key accreditation areas: Vision, Mission, Goals, and Objectives; Faculty; Curriculum and Instruction; Support to Students; Research; Extension and Community Involvement; Library; Physical Plant and Facilities; Laboratories; and Administration. Through meticulous document reviews, interviews, and on-site validations, the survey teams confirmed that both programs demonstrated exceptional performance across these areas, reflecting the University’s culture of quality assurance and academic leadership.

The Master of Statistics (MOS) program of the College of Arts and Sciences, led by Program Head Dr. Mary Loreen Cayabyab and supported by core faculty member Dr. Rhoschelle Riboroso along with the dedicated faculty team under the leadership of then Dean Dr. Remedios Navarro, received commendations for its outstanding performance in Faculty, Curriculum and Instruction, and Support to Students.

The program takes pride in its strong and highly qualified faculty members who exhibit advanced expertise in statistical methods and research. Its well-designed, outcomes-based curriculum is tailored to develop analytical thinking, research competence, and data-driven decision-making skills among students. Moreover, the MOS program provides robust academic guidance and mentoring support, fostering a learning environment that champions academic excellence, professional growth, and a culture of continuous improvement.

Similarly, the Master of Arts in Nursing (MAN) program, under the College of Nursing, is led by Program Head Dr. Bernardo Oliber Arde, with the unwavering support of the college’s dedicated faculty and the leadership of then Dean Dr. Francis Don Nero. The program earned commendations for its outstanding performance in the areas of Faculty, Curriculum and Instruction, and Support to Students.

Guided by a team of highly qualified and compassionate educators, the MAN program remains unfaltering in upholding professional and ethical standards in nursing education. Its innovative, outcomes-based curriculum emphasizes evidence-based practice, leadership, and community health engagement, preparing students to meet the evolving challenges of the nursing profession with competence and integrity. Moreover, the program’s robust student support services foster both academic excellence and personal growth, ensuring that learners receive a holistic and transformative graduate training experience.

The successful completion of the Level II Accreditation Survey affirms that both programs have met the stringent quality standards set by the AACCUP, emphasizing their academic relevance, operational effectiveness, and long-term sustainability. This milestone reflects the collective dedication of the deans, program heads, faculty, staff, and students—supported by the committed leadership of the University administration—in upholding the highest standards of instruction and institutional performance.

Through this achievement, UNP reinforces its unwavering commitment to advance graduate education and foster a culture of continuous quality improvement. The accreditation success of the Master of Statistics and Master of Arts in Nursing programs not only strengthens UNP’s roster of accredited academic offerings but also highlights its ongoing pursuit of excellence and alignment with both national and international benchmarks of quality education.

The College of Arts and Sciences is now steered by Dr. Remigio Obrero, serving as Officer-in-Charge, while the College of Nursing is under the capable leadership of OIC Dean Prof. Mercedes Anicas.
