MAT students conduct virtual demonstration teaching with Indonesian Partner Universities

Students of the Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) program under the College of Teacher Education successfully conducted a virtual demonstration teaching on Basic English in collaboration with Universitas Bina Sarana Informatika (UBSI) and Universitas Mulawarman (UnMul) on November 22, 2025. The academic activity formed part of ongoing internationalization and student mobility initiatives, fostering cross-border pedagogical exchange and collaborative learning.

The virtual sessions focused on two key topics in English language instruction. In partnership with UBSI, MAT students presented a lesson on English Sentence Patterns, while the session with Universitas Mulawarman centered on Subject–Verb Agreement in English. Indonesian students actively participated as learners, providing an authentic classroom context for the demonstration teaching and intercultural academic engagement.

The activity was observed and joined by representatives from the University of Northern Philippines (UNP), including MAT Program Head Dr. Jamaica V. Garcia and Assistant Dean for Graduate Studies Dr. Jenny Lou R. Taan. Also in attendance were Dr. Winnie T. Caliboso, MAT Faculty and IZN Coordinator for Student Mobility, along with MAT faculty members Dr. Honorato R. Patubo and Dr. Santiago A. Reolalas, who provided academic support and professional guidance during the sessions.

From the partner institutions, UBSI was represented by International Affairs Director Dr. Jimm, Dr. Agus Priadi, Head of the Language and Literature Program, and Dr. Yuni Utami Asih, Head of the Language and Art Department. The initiative was further supported by Dr. Makrina Tindangen, M.Pd., Coordinator of Professional Teacher Education, whose participation underscored the importance of sustained international collaboration in teacher education.

The virtual demonstration teaching highlighted effective instructional strategies in English language teaching while strengthening institutional partnerships between Philippine and Indonesian universities. It also reinforced the MAT program’s commitment to preparing future educators for global engagement through innovative, technology-mediated learning experiences.
