OBAS leads international multi-cultural, gender, development forum

The Organization of Business Administration Students (OBAS) of the College of Business Administration and Accountancy at the University of Northern Philippines, and in partnership with the Center for Gender and Development, commemorated the World Sustainable Transport Day through the conduct of the International Cooperative Summit cum Multi-Cultural and Gender Development on November 26 via Zoom and streamed live on Facebook.

The summit revolved around the theme “Sustainable T.R.A.N.S.P.O.R.T.” (Turning Resources into Action by Navigating Strategic Progress and Organizing Reliable Transportation). It served as a platform to explore how sustainability, cooperative development, and gender inclusivity intersect to shape the future of transportation.

Dr. Karen Q. Custodio of the University of the Philippines Los Baños and Dr. Hilda F. San Gabriel of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines enriched the summit with insightful perspectives on sustainability, transportation, and cooperatives.

Adding a global dimension, Mr. Doug O’Brien, president and CEO of the National Cooperative Business Association CLUSA International, inspired the audience with his message on how cooperatives drive sustainability and equity.

The discussions underscored the pivotal role of transportation cooperatives in achieving the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), emphasizing gender-responsive strategies and innovative approaches to sustainable mobility.

Led by Mr. Marvil T. Cortez and guided by Mr. Jhonniño A. Serdenia, OBAS continues to spearhead impactful initiatives, reinforcing its position as a driving force in addressing pressing global challenges through forward-thinking and collaborative solutions.
