As one of the highlights of the UNP 57th Foundation Anniversary, the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs conducted the Invitational Academic Quiz Bowl on 11 October 2022 at the UNP Tadena Hall. The academic contest was facilitated by the College of Arts and Sciences and the Office of Student Affairs and Services.

Elementary, senior high school and college students from different schools in Ilocos Sur competed in General Knowledge and Ilokano Culture.

In the Elementary Level, General Knowledge and Ilokano Culture categories, the UNP Laboratory School emerged as 1st Place winner. The group was composed of Zay O. Corpuz, Althea Aquino and CJ Nathaniel Fontejon. Their coach is Mr. Ismael Quadra.  Aiyesha Gwene Alonzo and Gabriel Nathan Rapacon, students from Anonang-Naguilian Community School, won 2nd place. The team was coached by Ms. Carolina Luna.

Students from the St. Paul College of Ilocos Sur won 1st place in the Secondary Level, General Information Category. The members of the group are Ruth B. Dasugo, Eric Karl D. Dasugo and Pollene Ting. The coach is Mrs. Cristine Tolentino. The UNP Senior High School team, Jarno Benedito, Russel Jay Fuentesfina and Christian Jethro Ulita, bagged 2nd Place.  Their coach is Ms. Jennylou Pigao. The delegates from Narvacan National Central High School, Manuelito Villa, Jethro Leones and Jesther Montano, grabbed 3rd Place. The coach is Ms. Joanna Marie Ren.

In the Secondary Level, Ilokano Culture Category; the representatives from San Pedro National High School bagged the 1st Place. Their team was composed of: Faye Espiritu Sanhaya, Jalie Caneso and Cris Mark Ramos. Their coach is Mr. Joe Marie Torres. The Sinait National High School students won 2nd Place. The members of the group are: Yasmiene Kaye Solanio, Jamaica Joy Ines and Ivy Catherine Inda. The coaches of the team are Ms. Precious Ellen Azcueta and Ms. Eunice Baclig. Emerged as 3rd Placer are students from St. Paul College of Ilocos Sur. They are: Ma. Samantha Talania, Keziah Bermio and John Dominic Reyes with their coach Mrs. Cristine Tolentino.

The UNP team in the College Level, won 1st Place in General Knowledge category. The team members are: Marc Adrian Tabisula, Rinhel Verazon and Joris Icalla and their coach is Ms. Mary Ann Dela Cruz. The delegates from St. Paul College of Vigan won 2nd Place. The group includes: Jennyvieve Tasic, Elysa Jane Tubon and Paula Tobia with their coach Ms. Leslie Perper.  Shane Anne Vivit, Joanna Mae Valorosa and Ronald Lucero from the Divine Word College of Vigan occupied 3rd Place. Their coach is Mrs. Gemma Catherine Paiste.

DJ Inigo, Daniel Castaneda and Adriane Tan of UNP won 1st Place in the College Level, Ilokano Culture Category. Their coach is Mr. Greggy Talingdan.  The group from Ilocos Sur Comminity College, Christine Mae Quibacan, Jasmine Ross Guerero and Lexter Arzadon, bagged the 2nd Place. The coach is Ms. Shaina Cariaga. Divine Word College of Vigan representatives occupied the 3rd Place. The team includes James Vincent Racsa, Mike Bryan Ubilas and Domingo Rafudo Jr and their coach is Mrs. Gemma Catherine Paiste.

The winners received cash prizes and certificates of recognition.

Other participating senior high schools are: Banayoyo National High School, Lyceum de Ylocos, Saint William’s Institute, Cabugao National High School, Teodoro Hernaez National High School, Sinait National High School and Ilocos Sur Polytechnic State College, Santiago campus.

 North Luzon Philippines State College and Ilocos Sur Polytechnic State College, Santiago campus also participated in the College Level.
