SWSO – GCS conducts growth sessions on mental wellness for class mayors

The Student Welfare Services Office, through the Guidance and Counseling Services in collaboration with Students with Special Needs and Persons with Disabilities Services and International Student Services, held Growth Sessions on March 26, 2025, aimed at empowering the mental health and wellness of its Grades 7 to 10 and second to fourth-year class mayors.

With the theme, “Thrive Within: Empowering Mental Health Wellness,” the sessions focused on promoting the importance of social connection, emotional resilience, self-care and relaxation techniques, and goal setting in managing typical student challenges and improving overall quality of life.

Class mayors from the different academic units, including CAS, CBAA, CHTM, CCJE, CTech, and Laboratory Schools, participated in the morning session, while those from CArch, CFAD, CPAD, COE, CCIT, CN, CHS, CTE, and CSW attended the afternoon session.

Ms. Krystal Gale Senica, one of the guidance counselors of the university, emphasized the impact of mental wellness on academic performance, relationships, and the overall quality of life of the students.

Furthermore, Dr. Erwin Cadorna, the university president, urged participants to fully engage with the diverse activities prepared to meet their holistic needs, highlighting the significance of a comprehensive approach to supporting student well-being.

The university’s initiatives, such as this activity, reinforce UNP’s commitment to promoting mental wellness programs for both employees and students, aligning with its goal of providing responsive and sustainable services to the community.
