DLH holds training on business correspondence

The Department of Languages and Humanities in the College of Arts and Sciences through its DLH SSS (Saluwad, Saririt ken Saranay) Extension Program effectively administered a Training Workshop on Effective Business Correspondence in Capangdanan Elementary School, Capangdanan, Bantay, Ilocos Sur.

Teachers and barangay officials attended the training, which aimed to highlight the importance of business correspondence, its role in building partnerships, and the steps taken to ensure effective communication during the execution of an institutional program.

The welcome of Mrs. Diane May R. Gironc, the principal of Capangdanan Elementary School, emphasized that business correspondence plays a crucial role in the planning, coordination, and implementation of the program, particularly in communicating with various stakeholders and ensuring that all parties involved are informed and prepared.

Subsequently, Prof. Bernadeth F. Canoy, the organizer and initiator of the activity, conveyed the rationale for the activity. She stressed that in the context of a community or school, business correspondence refers to the exchange of information and ideas between individuals or organizations in a professional setting. This form of communication is vital in establishing and maintaining business relationships, as well as in conveying essential information clearly and efficiently.

In the activity, Mrs. Dichi Rica F. Aleson, faculty member of DLH, showcased that business correspondence is a cornerstone of professional communication that facilitates smooth operations, promotes collaboration, and builds strong relationships. Whether through emails, letters, memos, or reports, effective business correspondence helps organizations maintain transparency, convey information clearly, and make informed decisions.

By adhering to best practices such as clarity, professionalism, and accuracy, businesses can use correspondence as a powerful tool to achieve their objectives and maintain a positive reputation. With ongoing challenges in digital communication, businesses must continue to evolve their practices to ensure that correspondence remains effective and impactful in an increasingly fast-paced world.

As a response from the beneficiaries, Ms. Marie Jane P. Piano, barangay captain of Capangdanan, Bantay expressed her appreciation and was very grateful for the profound discussion which is very important and useful within the organization.

The lecture concluded with closing remarks sent by Prof. Nolito R. Ragunjan, the unit extension coordinator. He commended the collaboration among the three institutions and articulated the importance of continued partnerships in empowering community engagement through business correspondence.

The activity was initiated and organized by Prof. Bernadeth F. Canoy led by Prof. Allen Magdaleno De Vera, the department head.
