UNP and ADTU Host Third International Webinar, Focused on English’s Role in Multilingual Societies

The partnership between the University of Northern Philippines (UNP) and India’s Assam Down Town University (ADTU) continues to flourish with their third collaborative international webinar held on September 8, 2025.

The webinar titled “Role of English in Multilingual Context” held via Zoom was a key part of the ongoing academic exchange between the two institutions.

Dr. Winnie Caliboso, a faculty member from UNP’s College of Teacher Education, served as the guest speaker in the online discussion.

Organized by ADTU’s Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and its Directorate of International Affairs in collaboration with UNP, the webinar tackled the complexities of using English in diverse linguistic contexts. Dr. Caliboso’s presentation examined the issues and controversies surrounding the language and its significant role in shaping identity, education, and society.

This successful event builds on the momentum of previous joint webinars, strengthening the academic ties between UNP and ADTU. The collaboration is set to continue on September 19, 2025, with a webinar featuring Dr. Arlan Reburon, who will deliver a lecture on “Cyberbullying Across Borders: Building Safe Digital Communities.”
