UNP and ISNHS strengthen Technology Education through MOA

The Ilocos Sur National High School (ISNHS) and University of Northern Philippines (UNP) formalized their partnership through a memorandum of agreement (MOA) signing on March 31, 2025. The event, held at ISNHS, was attended by ISNHS Principal Editha C. Bagcal, TLE and STEM teachers, and UNP’s College of Technology faculty, led by Dr. Julius Moises Albalos, Dean, and Dr. Lloyd Mata, OIC-Director of the University Extension Office.

As part of UNP’s Adopt-a-School Program, this collaboration aims to enhance technology education through specialized training sessions based on a needs assessment survey. A key component of this initiative is the utilization of the Addressable Fire Alarm Trainer, developed by Dr. Allan Q. Guillermo, to train ISNHS faculty and students in Electrical Installation and Maintenance (EIM).

Additionally, the program will provide training in robotics, automation, and mechatronics, along with access to the College of Technology’s specialized equipment. This initiative will enhance students’ academic performance, provide early exposure to industry standards, and equip them with essential technical competencies. For teachers, the program will offer the necessary technical expertise to strengthen their instructional capabilities and reinforce the connection between education and industry.
