Strengthening its drive for global academic engagement, the BA Communication (BA COMM) program of the University of Northern Philippines successfully mounted the UNP–UBSI Communication Collaborative Course, a virtual faculty exchange held from April 13 to 24, 2026 in partnership with Universitas Bina Sarana Informatika (UBSI) of Indonesia—marking another milestone in cross-border education and collaboration.
The program brought together a dynamic cohort of 61 students, comprising 27 BA Communication majors from the University of Northern Philippines and 34 Communication students from Universitas Bina Sarana Informatika. This diverse assembly of learners underscored the initiative’s strong international reach, promoting cross-cultural collaboration and enriching academic exchange between the two institutions.
Delivered through virtual platforms, the initiative brought together students from different cultural contexts in an engaging learning environment, enabling them to collaboratively design communication projects rooted in the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The course was jointly delivered by a team of faculty experts from both partner institutions, emphasizing the strength of the collaboration. Leading the initiative for the University of Northern Philippines were Mr. Johnny Allagadan Jr. and Dr. Angelica Arquines, while Universitas Bina Sarana Informatika was represented by Dr. Susie Sugiarti, S.P., M.M., and Windu Tiastuti, M.I.Kom. Together, the instructors brought diverse academic perspectives and international expertise to the program, enriching the learning experience for all participants.
The initiative was successfully realized through the strategic leadership of the University’s International Affairs and External Linkages Office, led by Dr. Sally Jarin, whose office played a pivotal role in orchestrating and strengthening the faculty exchange, ensuring seamless collaboration between the partner institutions.
Through guided discussions, collaborative outputs, and final presentations, students demonstrated strong intercultural communication skills and teamwork. The program stands as a significant step in UNP’s internationalization endeavors, strengthening academic linkages and providing BA Communication students with meaningful global learning experiences beyond the traditional classroom.
