UNP-CARCH Holds 2nd Vesting Ceremony for BS Environmental Planning Program

The College of Architecture of the University of Northern Philippines (UNP-CARCH) held its 2nd Vesting Ceremony for BS Environmental Planning students on August 29, 2025, at the UNP Tadena Hall. The event gathered faculty, students, and special guests to mark the moment when 4th-year students officially received their vests, symbolizing their commitment to the profession and to sustainable development.

In his inspirational message, University President Dr. Erwin Cadorna reminded the students that their role is not only about technical expertise but also about serving as leaders with an important responsibility to their communities in advancing sustainability and resilience through environmental planning.

Dr. Fatima Nicetas R. Alonzo opened the ceremony with her Welcome Remarks, commending the students for reaching this milestone and emphasizing the vest as both a rite of passage and a pledge of service.

The keynote was delivered by Mr. Henry Moskovitz, a US Peace Corps Volunteer and sustainable development advocate. In his address, he emphasized the urgency of tackling environmental challenges, highlighting issues such as climate change, the need for more green spaces, and the importance of sustainability in urban planning. He reminded the students that as future environmental planners, they play a crucial role in guiding how communities adapt and thrive in the face of these global shifts.

Special guests included EnP. Jennifer Rose Villalba and EnP. Gilrose Joy Ramos Dupitas, both passers of the Environmental Planners Licensure Examination, whose achievements serve as inspiration for the students.

Other highlights included the Oath of Commitment led by James Neo V. Millare, a tribute to parents through abel cloth joined into a tapestry of gratitude, and a batch video presentation capturing the students’ four-year journey.
