The University of Northern Philippines continues to shine brighter at 60 as it honored the winners of the various contests that formed part of the Diamond Jubilee launching last September 8. These competitions highlighted the artistry, unity, and spirit of being a true UNPian.
The awarding of winners was held during the flag ceremony on September 15, where the university proudly recognized the champions whose talents truly reflect the best of UNP.
The Photography Contest showcased the creativity of student journalists from different colleges. Claiming first place was The Defender of the College of Criminal Justice Education (CCJE), followed by The Ledger of the College of Business Administration and Accountancy (CBAA) in second place, and The Rabbi of the College of Teacher Education (CTE) in third place. The contest was facilitated by the University Information Office in partnership with Mr. Ade John Gestole, Assistant Head of Student Publication Services.
In addition, winners from other contests were also recognized. The Most Creative Award was awarded to the College of Arts and Sciences (1st place), the College of Public Administration (2nd place), and the Perlas ti Amianan Organization (3rd place). For the Most Engaging Award, the College of Nursing secured the top spot, followed by the Laboratory Schools and the College of Architecture. Meanwhile, the Most Participative Award was led by the College of Hospitality and Tourism Management, with the College of Arts and Sciences and the College of Engineering completing the roster. These contests were facilitated by the University Student Council.
The awarding ceremonies were graced by university officials, namely Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Rolando Navarro, Vice President Albert Tejero, Student Regent Jake Axel Tacadena, and Dr. Mariano Avila, Director of the Office of Student Affairs and Services.
UNP President Dr. Erwin F. Cadorna has always emphasized the importance of student involvement in university life. For him, contests and activities such as these are not merely events but opportunities for students to be active, engaged, and united in the pursuit of excellence.
Indeed, these contests embodied the heart of the Diamond Jubilee: They stand as a reminder that UNP’s 60 years is not only about looking back with pride, but also moving forward with renewed inspiration, powered by the creativity and dedication of its people.
