UNP Climbs to 295th Globally in the 2025 UI GreenMetric World University Rankings

The University of Northern Philippines (UNP) has strengthened its standing as a leading environmentally conscious institution, placing 2nd in Region 1, 4th in the Philippines, 164th in Asia, and 295th globally in the 2025 UI GreenMetric World University Rankings.

This latest achievement highlights the university’s remarkable ascent on the global stage. From a ranking of 472nd in 2023, UNP surged to 325th in 2024 and has now secured the 295th spot in 2025. This rapid and consistent year-on-year rise validates the university’s expanding influence and intensified commitment to environmental stewardship.

Breaking down the university’s global performance by category, UNP secured the following global rankings:

  • Education and Research: 210th
  • Transportation: 212th
  • Setting and Infrastructure: 217th
  • Water: 302nd
  • Waste: 366th
  • Energy and Climate: 484th 

The 2025 rankings, themed “Advancing Sustainable Development Goals in Higher Education: Stories from Our Institutions and Communities,” assessed universities on their ability to integrate green policies into operations and academics, reflecting the success of UNP’s robust campus initiatives.

This recognition serves as a testament to the university’s holistic approach to sustainability, made possible through the unwavering commitment of all UNP personnel under the leadership of University President Dr. Erwin F. Cadorna.
