UNP-CN strengthens community and women’s health initiatives in barangay Napo

The University of Northern Philippines – College of Nursing (UNP-CN) reaffirmed its commitment to community health and women’s empowerment through two initiatives in barangay Napo on March 27-28, 2025. These events focused on health education, disease prevention, and holistic wellness, strengthening UNP’s partnership with the local community.

The first initiative marked the renewal of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between UNP and barangay Napo under the Adopt-a-Community Program, ensuring continued healthcare services. The two-day event featured lectures and workshops on lifestyle disease prevention and nutrition, facilitated by Prof. Raymund Christopher Dela Peña, Edna Javier, and Jevie Abella, alongside student volunteer Reinn Kyle Cabico. Barangay Captain Candido T. Quinto, Councilman Joselito Tubon, and Barangay Secretary Karen Tubon support the program’s long-term impact.

Move and Groove for Wellness: Zumba and Women’s Health Awareness was held on March 28 to celebrate Women’s Month. Prof. Greggie Talingdan and Prof. Sheila Obispo delivered health talks on heart and mental health respectively. These initiatives emphasized preventive healthcare and empowerment, reinforcing UNP-CN’s dedication to sustainable health programs and community well-being in barangay Napo.
