UNP College of Law strengthens Bar exam prep with intensive Labor and International Law lecture

Intensifying its drive toward Bar excellence, the University of Northern Philippines–College of Law Central Bar Operations convened the third and fourth sessions of its 2026 Bar Lecture Series on February 22, 2026, further fortifying its sustained and strategic review program for aspiring lawyers.

Held via Zoom, the third session featured Atty. Imelda M. Abadilla-Brown, who delivered a comprehensive lecture on Labor Law, focusing on Labor Relations and relevant jurisprudence. The discussion covered State Policy, the Right to Self-Organization, Collective Bargaining, Unfair Labor Practices, Strikes and Lockouts, Termination of Employment, as well as Jurisdiction, Remedies, and Prescription.

In a focused and methodical discussion, Atty. Abadilla-Brown provided an in-depth examination of both the substantive rights and procedural mechanisms under labor law, illustrating how jurisprudence gives meaning and direction to statutory mandates. She distilled intricate doctrines into clear, practical guidance, enabling participants to better appreciate their real-world implications and relevance to Bar Examination questions. Central to her lecture was the art of effective answer writing—stressing precision, logical organization, citation of the proper legal basis, thoughtful application to the facts, and the delivery of a clear and categorical conclusion.

   The fourth session, held on February 28, 2026, spotlighted Dean Antonio La Viña as he delivered a comprehensive review of Public International Law. During the lecture, Dean La Viña dissected essential doctrines and landmark jurisprudence, offering participants a structured framework to grasp foundational principles and appreciate their significance in today’s legal landscape.

Dean La Viña highlighted the importance of disciplined legal analysis and structured writing, stressing precision, organization, and the effective application of law to facts in answering Bar questions. His lecture offered participants a strengthened doctrinal foundation and practical strategies for approaching Public International Law topics in the Bar Examination.

These third and fourth sessions are part of the University of Northern Philippines College of Law Central Bar Operations’ ongoing preparations for the 2026 Bar Examinations, reflecting the program’s commitment to rigorous, systematic, and jurisprudence-driven review.
