UNP College of Technology hosts PSHS-Ilocos students for Immersive Research and Innovation Visit

The University of Northern Philippines (UNP) College of Technology opened its doors to young science enthusiasts from the Philippine Science High School – Ilocos Region Campus (PSHS-IRC) on October 17, 2025, for an immersive educational visit under their Research 1 curriculum. The activity fostered collaboration between secondary and higher education, offering the students a deeper understanding of research processes and direct engagement with UNP’s cutting-edge laboratories and technological innovations that bring classroom concepts to life.

Dr. Julius Moises S. Albalos, CTech Dean, together with Assistant Dean Dr. Allan Guillermo, extended a warm welcome to the visiting students and personally led them on a guided tour of the College of Technology’s research and learning facilities. Accompanied by Engr. John Jericho Arquines, Engr. Princess Joy Espejo, Mr. Trinivic Llanes, Ms. Theresa Patrice Lucero, and Mr. Justin Paul Viernes, the team showcased the college’s state-of-the-art laboratories, highlighting its flagship 3D Innovation Center and other specialized facilities that support hands-on learning and applied research.

During the visit, the faculty members of the College of Technology warmly accommodated the inquisitive students, taking time to answer their questions and share insights about the different fields of study within the college. They demonstrated the operation of selected laboratory equipment, illustrating how theoretical concepts are applied in real-world technological and engineering contexts. Through these interactive sessions, the students were able to observe and experience firsthand the practical aspects of research and innovation—enhancing their appreciation of how technology contributes to scientific discovery and problem-solving. The activity not only enriched their classroom learning but also inspired greater interest in pursuing future studies in science and technology.
