The University of Northern Philippines through the initiative of the College of Public Administration Extension Unit, inked a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with Barangay Nagcullooban, Sinait, Ilocos Sur on July 31. This initiative aimed to strengthen community engagement and expand the university’s extension programs.
Dr. Lloyd Mata, Director of UNP Extension Office, expressed his gratitude to the barangay officials and residents for warmly welcoming the university’s outreach efforts. He emphasized the importance of partnerships and community collaboration in promoting sustainable development.
Brgy. Kagawad Czarina Joyce Valdez warmly welcomed the UNP team and participants, stating her appreciation for the partnership and its positive impact in the community.
As part of the activity, Mr. Rowell Castillo, CPAd faculty member and a Registered Midwife, along with Ms. Jevie Abella, Coordinator for Social and Community Service, conducted a health and nutrition education session. Mr. Castillo discussed the “Pinggang Pinoy” approach, while Ms. Abella emphasized the food pyramid and addressed the negative effects of poor dietary habits and improper food consumption.
The Extension Office Coordinator for Advocacy and Research, as well as CPAd Extension Unit Coordinator, Dr. Alma Somera, and CPAd faculty members were also present.
