UNP donates books to DRGMNHS

The University of Northern Philippines donated books and reading materials to Dr. Ricardo Gacula Memorial National High School of Tamurong Primero, Candon City, Ilocos Sur on June 20, 2025.

Dubbed as “Brigada Eskwela: Sama-sama Para sa Bayang Bumabasa,” UNP joins the nationwide effort and volunteerism on literacy development through provision of books and reading materials to support learners reading skills development and ensuring that reading resources are available at the partner school.

Ms. Marieglo Presto, University Librarian, together with Prof. May Evelia Ruadap and Mr. Randall Rabacal, Extension Coordinators, handed the books and reading materials to the partner school headed by Dr. Analyn Galanto, School Principal.

Following the turning over of the books and reading materials to the school was a lecture delivered by Ms. Presto which was attended by junior and senior high school students. The talk highlighted the role of school library in promoting information literacy in the K – 12 education.

The activity was spearheaded by the Office of the Vice President for Research and Extension under Dr. Fatima Rocamora.

The endeavor cascades from the Governance Initiatives of Dr. Erwin Cadorna’s administration along the provision of responsive, relevant, and sustainable services to the community.
