UNP empowers ISPJ detainees with Personality Development and Haircutting training
The university, through its B.U.S.I.N.E.S.S. IN THE Communities program, in collaboration with the College of Business Administration and Accountancy and the University Extension Office, conducted the project titled Panagtinnunos ti Panagdur-as: Empowering Image and Skills. The two-day training, held on March 13-14, 2025, at the Ilocos Sur Provincial Jail, Bantay, Ilocos Sur, aimed to provide participants with essential skills in haircutting and foster their self-confidence, professionalism, and personal growth.
Organized by Dr. Fatima Rocamora, Vice President for Research and Extension, and Dr. Erwin Tolbe, Dean of the CBAA, with coordination from Dr. Eileen Rose Paculan and Prof. May Evelia Ruadap, the training featured both practical and personality development sessions. Bullalayaw ti Vigan served as trainers, teaching participants various haircutting techniques to enhance their grooming capabilities and entrepreneurial potential.
The personality development aspect of the program was led by resource speaker Dr. Glenn Paul E. Briones, who delivered insightful sessions on building self-confidence and professional presence. Facilitators Ms. Marilou Mejares and Mr. Randall Rabacal ensured the smooth conduct of activities, while Mr. Romeo Arce, Jr. served as the moderator and documenter.
The Panagtinnunos ti Panagdur-as training program is part of the University’s broader effort to promote sustainable community development and rehabilitation. By equipping individuals with practical skills and enhancing their personal image, the initiative aimed to contribute meaningfully to economic growth and personal empowerment.
