UNP empowers new staff with HRIS Training and Orientation

In a major step toward strengthening workforce readiness, the University of Northern Philippines wrapped up its Human Resource Information System (HRIS) orientation and training on March 5, 2026. Held virtually via Zoom, the session brought together newly hired teaching and non-teaching personnel, preparing them to navigate their roles with confidence and efficiency.

The university’s latest digital initiative represents a landmark collaboration between its key administrative and technology offices. Led by Ms. Antonina Lazarro of the Human Resource and Management Office (HRMO) and University Training Officer Mr. Raymart Tablante, the project was with the Information & Communications Technology Office (ICTO) under the guidance of Dr. Shareen Navarro. Together, these teams combined their expertise to create an innovative solution that enhances operational efficiency and highlights the institution’s commitment to modernization and excellence.

Dr. Richard Arruejo, Head of the Information Systems Development and Security Office, served as the resource speaker for the training, leading participants through the Human Resource Information System (HRIS) in a comprehensive, step-by-step session. The hands-on demonstration provided personnel with practical knowledge on navigating the system, ensuring proper and efficient use. Key administrative processes, including employee records management, payroll processing, leave tracking, and performance monitoring, were thoroughly covered, equipping participants with the skills to handle essential HR functions confidently.

The recent rollout of the HRIS, complemented by a comprehensive training program, marks a significant step toward digital transformation in public service at the University. By streamlining processes previously done manually, the system minimizes errors, strengthens data security, and ensures full compliance with institutional policies and government regulations.

Guided by Dr. Richard Arruejo’s detailed system walkthrough and the joint efforts of the organizing offices, participants left the training with a clear understanding of the HRIS’s capabilities. Equipped with this knowledge, University employees are now prepared to fully utilize the system, paving the way for more coordinated, transparent, and efficient human resource management in the institution.
