The University of Northern Philippines, through the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs, in collaboration with the Instruction and Faculty Development Office and C & E Publishing, Inc., hosted an intensive training on instructional materials development titled “Creating Quality Instructional Materials” held on September 10 up to September 12, 2025, at the Tadena Hall. The program gathered 61 faculty members from various colleges, with the goal of strengthening their expertise in designing and producing effective learning resources to enrich teaching and student engagement.
Dr. Rolando Navarro, Vice President for Academic Affairs, formally welcomed the participants and underscored the significance of the program. In his message, he highlighted the transformative power of instructional resources, noting that these materials “can turn classrooms into dynamic spaces where concepts are clarified, ideas are brought to life, and learners are engaged more meaningfully.” His remarks set the tone for the event, reaffirming the crucial role of instructional materials in enhancing the teaching and learning experience.
The sessions are facilitated by Dr. Mark Gleen Cidro of the Philippine Normal University, Manila, a noted expert in instructional design and development. In his address, Dr. Cidro urged faculty members to “push boundaries, innovate fearlessly, and dedicate themselves to crafting resources that truly respond to diverse learner needs.” He underscored the vital role of educators as dynamic facilitators who continually refine their teaching practices, embracing innovative strategies to ensure learning remains meaningful and inclusive for all students.
Participants actively engaged in the discussions via zoom today, equipping themselves with practical strategies to improve their instructional materials.
