Nagsincoan, Cabugao, Ilocos Sur — In a concerted effort to boost local livelihoods, the University of Northern Philippines (UNP) College of Business Administration and Accountancy (CBAA), in collaboration with the Office of the Vice President for Research and Extension and the University Extension Office, conducted a one-day twin training event on August 6, 2025.
The event, held under the B.U.S.I.N.E.S.S. in the Communities Program (Project: Kakibin ti Pagrang-ayan), was attended by 25 community members, including parents and PTA representatives from Nagsincoan Elementary School.
The program featured two concurrent sessions designed to equip participants with practical skills and essential knowledge for enhancing their livelihoods. The first session, led by Mr. Aristotle Piamonte, focused on “Kamote Buchi Making Made Profitable: Training on Product Pricing and Costing.” Participants learned hands-on techniques for making kamote buchi, a popular local delicacy, complemented by key strategies in pricing and cost management aimed at ensuring sustainable small-scale food enterprises.
Meanwhile, the second session, facilitated by Mr. Rey Anthony Vecina, provided training on “Enhancing Livelihoods through Meat Processing, Packaging, and Labeling.” This workshop emphasized the importance of proper food hygiene, attractive packaging, and accurate labeling to improve product marketability and consumer trust.
These initiatives align with UNP’s ongoing commitment to community development through skills enhancement, financial literacy, and strengthening micro-enterprises. By offering these targeted trainings, UNP aims to empower local residents, opening new avenues for economic growth and self-sufficiency in grassroots communities.
