UNP faculty and staff join Education Day Parade 2025
The University of Northern Philippines (UNP) actively participated in the Education Day Parade on January 18, 2025 in the historic Heritage City of Vigan. This annual event, as part of the Longganisa Festival, highlights the dynamic spirit of education and camaraderie among various educational institutions within the city.
Under the leadership of President Dr. Erwin F. Cadorna, UNP faculty and staff wore vibrant family day shirts, symbolizing unity and celebration. The parade showcased a diverse array of educators from different educational levels, emphasizing the importance of cooperation in education. As they marched through the streets, participants not only reaffirmed their dedication to academic excellence but also celebrated Vigan’s rich cultural heritage, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site for its well-preserved Spanish colonial architecture.
The Education Day Parade serves as a vital platform to highlight the role of education in societal development. It fosters community pride and encourages collective responsibility towards educational progress. Faculty members noted that such events break down institutional barriers, facilitating idea exchange and collaboration among educators. This celebration of diversity and unity reinforces education’s essential role in shaping future generations and strengthening community bonds.
