Reinforcing its commitment to effective workforce integration and institutional excellence, the University of Northern Philippines, through its Human Resources Management Office, conducted a comprehensive orientation program for newly appointed permanent teaching and non-teaching personnel and newly hired part-time faculty members on January 20, 2026, at the Romualdo Tadena Hall, ensuring a seamless transition into the university’s academic and administrative community.
Key university officials delivered inspirational messages underscoring UNP’s commitment to academic excellence, professional integrity, and institutional service. University President Dr. Erwin Cadorna led the roster of speakers, articulating the administration’s vision for a responsive and quality-driven university. He was joined by Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Rolando Navarro, who emphasized academic standards and instructional responsibilities; Faculty Regent Dr. Aldrin Jaramilla, who highlighted faculty representation and shared governance; and Director for Instruction and Faculty Development Dr. Luzviminda Relon, who discussed faculty development initiatives and continuous professional growth. Collectively, their messages set the tone for the new appointees’ integration into the university community and reaffirmed the institution’s expectations of excellence and dedication in service.
The program was designed to orient newly appointed personnel on the University of Northern Philippines’ institutional framework, operational systems, and standards of professional conduct. It featured a series of interactive presentations and open forums that provided participants with a clearer understanding of key university policies and protocols. Dr. Ruben Ragunjan discussed campus traffic rules and regulations to promote safety and order within the university premises, while Atty. Kathryn Louise Eder, Director of the Center for Gender and Development, outlined the university’s Gender and Development initiatives, emphasizing inclusivity and gender responsiveness in the workplace. Meanwhile, Ms. Maridel Yagui led the discussion on compliance with Revenue Regulation No. 11-2018, underscoring the importance of adherence to government policies and financial accountability.
Ms. Nina Lazaro and Mr. Raymart Tablante of the Human Resource Management Office further enriched the program by presenting a comprehensive overview of the university’s institutional guidelines. Their discussion covered key policies on work schedules, performance evaluation systems, employee benefits, and standards of professional conduct, providing participants with a clear understanding of organizational expectations. The session was marked by active participation, as attendees engaged in interactive discussions and question-and-answer exchanges to address concerns, seek clarifications, and gain practical insights into their duties, roles, and responsibilities within the university.
The orientation program culminated in the oath-taking ceremony of the newly appointed personnel, formally welcoming them into the university community. Taking their oaths were Dr. Eric Jun Caday, Medical Officer III; Dr. Bondee Penaflor, Associate Professor V; and Ms. Maridel Yagui, Accountant I, marking the start of their official service and commitment to uphold the institution’s standards and mandates.
This initiative by the UNP administration reflects its commitment toward building a connected, capable, and motivated workforce, with a dedication in advancing excellence across the university community.
