The University of Northern Philippines, through the Office of Student Affairs and Services (OSAS), successfully conducted Panangpasangbay 2025, the General Orientation Program for new students, shifters, transferees, returnees, and second-coursers, on August 4–5, 2025.
The event was spearheaded by OSAS in collaboration with the Student Welfare and Services Office (SWSO) and the Guidance and Counseling Services (GCS), aiming to welcome and guide students as they begin or continue their academic journey at the university.
Dr. Mariano Paterno F. Avila, Director of OSAS, officially welcomed the students to the university. This was followed by a presentation on the history, vision, mission, quality policy, and university officials by Dr. Angelica T. Arquines, Officer-in-Charge of the University Information Office.
An inspirational message was delivered by Dr. Erwin F. Cadorna, University President. He highlighted the significance of academic excellence, discipline, and student engagement throughout their university journey. He also encouraged the students to join various sporting events, as part of their holistic development.
General academic policies and procedures, including admission, retention, shifting, subject changes, graduation requirements, and grading system were comprehensively discussed by Mr. Robinson C. Tolio, University Registrar.
Various student services were also presented during the orientation. Prof. Arnold P. Pio, Assistant Head of the Student Organizations and Leadership Training Services, discussed the mandate, composition, objectives, and organizational structure of OSAS. Meanwhile, Prof. Randolfo R. Lopez, Head of Student Development Services, presented the university’s discipline services.
Dr. Ruben Ragunjan, Head of Campus Security Services, emphasized safety and security protocols on campus. On the other hand, Prof. Jastin R. Soria, Coordinator for Disaster Risk Reduction Management, discussed the university’s disaster preparedness and response strategies.
Library services, medical/dental services, hospital services, and data privacy act were thoroughly explained through video presentations.
The orientation aimed to provide students with essential knowledge and awareness of the university’s policies, services, and resources, ensuring a smooth transition into campus life.
