UNP hosts Education Night 2025
The University of Northern Philippines hosted this year’s Education Night held at Plaza Burgos, Vigan City on January 18. This was participated in by public and private elementary, secondary, and tertiary school officials, administrators, and teachers.
Dr. Erwin F. Cadorna, UNP President, delivered an inspirational message followed by a video message from Congressman Roman T. Romulo, District Representative, City of Pasig, Lone District Chairperson, Basic Education and Culture Nineteenth Congress House of Representatives.
In her speech, Dr. Christine Nabor-Ferrer, guest speaker and the director of CHED-RO 1, appealed to educators to uphold lifelong learning.
“We must be the mentors directing our learners to their guiding potential and we must be lifelong learners ourselves,” she stated.
She added that the theme, “We are future ready, nurturing learning leadership towards future- ready,” was close to her heart as it speaks of building a future we are all responsible for shaping.
The program saw the awarding of winners of individual and school contests. Dr. Bernardo Oliber Alconis Arde Jr. was named the Bigueño Teacher of the Year, (Tertiary Level), while Dr. Aurelia T. Vitamog received the same award for the secondary level and Mrs. Cherry Ann D. Andres, Master Teacher I of Nagsangalan Elementary School for the elementary level.
For the Most-Nutri-Functional School Canteen (Elementary level), Capangpangan Elementary School placed first, Ayusan-Paoa Elementary School was second, and Salindeg, Pong-ol Barraca Elementary School was third. For the Secondary level, Ilocos Sur National High School ranked first, Vigan National High School was second.
For the Search for Best School in a Garden (Elementary level), Gov. Evaristo Singson Il Memorial School secured first place, Mindoro Elementary School got second place, and Pantay Integrated School won third place. For the Secondary level, Ilocos Sur National High School was the lone winner.
A special award, Bakuna Champion: School Based Immunization, was awarded to Gov. Evaristo Singson Il Memorial School.
Awarding of different academic contests such as Design a Learning Hub Contest, Quiz Bee, Extemporaneous Speech Contest, Marching Band Foot Parade and Marching Band Exhibition Competition was also held.
The program culminated in the awarding of the Sining, Talento at Galing ng Educators (STAGE). Cluster 2 ranked first, St. Thomas Aquinas Learning Center placed second, and Ilocos Sur National High School ranked third.
