UNP, ISPPO equip Sta. Lucia residents with skills

 

The Ilocos Sur Provincial Police Office (ISPPO) teamed with the University of Northern Philippines in a skills training for the residents of Sta. Lucia Ilocos Sur and selected members of the ISPPO in Ayusan, Sta. Lucia, Ilocos Sur on March 14, 2024.

The training was offered in celebration of National Women’s Month with the theme “Lipunang Patas sa Bagong Pilipinas: Husay ng Kababaihan, Patunayan!”

PCol Honesto Lazo, Deputy Provincial Director for Administration, representing PCol Darnell Dulnuan, Provincial Director, expressed that the teams’ collaborated to “promote unity towards attaining peace and order as well as economic advancement through livelihood training.”

He conveyed that the activity was given as “an opportunity to show our commitment that the Philippine National Police and the government is truthful to their promises in providing the community not just a safe, secured and peaceful place but an empowered community as well as advancing to a more progressive nation.”

He also thanked the University as their partner in equipping the participants with the skills in preparing dish washing liquid.

Mayor Joseph Simon Valdez, municipal mayor of Sta. Lucia, emphasized “saan laeng a ti gobierno nasional ti makatulong no di pay ketdi dagiti lokal, kas ti UNP, para iti pagsayaatan a mangitag-ay ti sasaaden iti biag.”

A gender-harmonized skills training on dishwashing liquid soap making facilitated by Prof. May Evelia Ruadap and Ms. Caludette Rabago of the University Extension Office. Ms. Arlene Kriszel Tabuac of the Laboratory Schools delivered a lecture on resilience and reintegration. Mr. Lester Aaron also delivered the talk on “Hope and Perseverance,” and Mr. Jeffrey Valencia on “The Promise of a Second Chance.” Aaron and Valencia are faculty members of the UNP Laboratory Schools.

Also present during activity were Atty. Cathleen Lizette Ofilas-Keith (Provincial National Police Commission Officer), PLtCol Rogelio Remiendo (Unit Chief, Provincial Operations Management Unit), PEMS Jerry Valdez (Municipal Executive Senior Officer), and some PNP members of the municipalities of Suyo, Alilem, Tagudin, Sugpon, Sta. Cruz, and Sta. Lucia.
