UNP, ISPPO renew MoU, strengthening partnership for Law Enforcement and Public Administration
The Open University spearheaded the renewal of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between UNP and the Ilocos Sur Police Provincial Office (ISPPO) in a ceremony that reinforced their commitment to capacity-building and professional development for law enforcement personnel on March 14, 2025 at Tanghalang Pedro Bukaneg CFAD Bldg., UNP. The event was graced by UNP President Dr. Erwin Cadorna and ISPPO Provincial Director PCol Darnell Dulnuan, with Dr. Dolores Bersamina, Dean of the Open University, PLCol Rodel Ularte and PLt Domingo Amano Jr. serving as witnesses.
Following the signing ceremony, an extension activity on “Financial Strategies for Stability and Growth through Public Administration Insights” was conducted which was attended by 50 PNP personnel. This initiative aimed to enhance the financial literacy and management skills of law enforcers, equipping them with essential knowledge on financial stability and sustainability. The session was facilitated by Dr. Nathalie Almero and Dr. Ace Ferrer, esteemed faculty members with expertise in public administration and financial management.
The extension activity was a collaborative effort between the Open University and the College of Business Administration and Accountancy (CBAA), highlighting the interdisciplinary approach in empowering law enforcement officers with financial strategies applicable to both their professional and personal lives. This was made possible through the efforts of Dr. Wilson Tolio, Assistant Dean of Open University and Dr. Eileen Rose Paculan, Extension Coordinator of CBAA.
The successful renewal of the MOU and the subsequent knowledge-sharing session reaffirm the strong partnership between UNP and ISPPO in fostering continuous education and development within the police force. This collaboration underscores UNP’s commitment to extending its academic expertise beyond the classroom and into the community, ensuring that public servants are well-equipped to navigate the evolving demands of their profession.
