The University of Northern Philippines joins the 2025 National State Colleges and Universities Athletic Association (SCUAA) Games held from April 23 to 27 at Camiguin Polytechnic State College. This year, UNP, represented by a strong delegation of one hundred members, including athletes, performers, and coaches, are ready to compete and exemplify sportsmanship on the national stage.
The opening of the National SCUAA 2025 was marked by a vibrant solidarity meeting and grand parade towards the the New Camiguin Gymnasium, gathering contingents from universities and colleges from across the country. The event, themed “Advancing SUC Unity, Elevating Sports Excellence for Sustainable Development,” aims to foster camaraderie, unity, and healthy competition among state universities and colleges. Delegates were welcomed by Dr. Macario Oclarit, President of Camiguin Polytechnic State College, and oriented on the week’s schedule, technical guidelines, and the spirit of fair play.
Delegates from UNP includes university’s determined basketball players, John Jasper Andres, Nhoel Osalvo, James Pacaoan, Dale Jovan Paiste, Leemar Jester Pamani, Gershwin Andreev Rafanan, Nathan Rey Rodillas, Jericho Saribay, Chris Emanuel Tagorda, Jose Emmanuel Talledo. Jazreel Angelo Bernalez, Alexa Aleta, Erica Raciles, and Reign Ann Joy Tapia for Athletics Men and Women.
Further, for arnis men are Aeron Jay Velasco, Jansen Tumbaga. badminton men players are Brad Warren Sarmiento, Ivin Angel Baquiran, Brian Corpuz, and John Paul Abella. The football players are Nixon Abaya, Alvin Jarel Aguimatang, Paul Vincente Arcena, Jericho Cacho, Vince Cubangbang, Samuel James Dumenden, Skudd Aira Jamora, Danniele Josh Pacada, Divino Carl Pacada, Justin Sigmund Ped, Jethro Mc Ryu Piano, Gyber Rahc Prado, Nash Angelo Purugganan, Zhander Jhay Rafanan, and Brian Josh Savella.
Moreover, the fully equipped volleyball players are Rolly Rabang Altuna Jr., Cregie Boy Brillantes, Jorell Alfred Bayudang Alimari, Emil John Viloria Bulso, Luc Ellehcer Delos Reyes, Joshua Angelo Cabjuan Peralta, Sean Lhander Pere, John Paul Domenden, Khris Austin Pepito, Marvin Rivas, Kelvin Paul Gonzales Ilmeng, and Reigne Kyle Canias Borja. For table and lawn tennis women, they are Yllanah Andrei Rabino, Rheyza Mae Amin, Rhicamyr Alcos, Lizave Reyes, and Precious Sheena Grace Dacanay.
For the swimming competition is Charles Jeylourde Bernal, archery women, Pearl Eden Taberna, and Poomsae male and female, Rian Billy Keyster Cabaong, Dee-James Ilaban, and Erica Angelene Del Castillo.
In addition, representatives for Kyorugi male and female are Jaylord Riodil, Zedric John Siababa, Jerald Villegas, Cesar Ian Santos, Marc Kenzie Yadao, Iramela Millionette Rigos, Angeline Tabutol, Vanessa Mae Antonio, and for the dance ports, Ahron Andrei De Leon, and Jhasley Relon.
Lastly, the UNP delegates were guided by the expertise of Prof. Joel Arruejo, Sports Director, Dr. Chasen Almazan, Cultural Director, together with their coaches, Dr. Vincent Genaro Palma, Atty. Gerwin Rabang, Dr. Carlo Ventura, Prof. Edgar Aquino, Prof. Florence Dela Cruz, Pablo Roqueta Jr., Jerick Jerome Soria, Leo Angelou Baja, Ace Ferrer, Roderick Ian Dacanay, Gian Paulo Avera, George Philippe Amano, George Michael Amano, Renz Vermil Ayson, Eden Liezel Peralta, Archie Jan Querubin, and Mark Christian Palo.
UNP’s participation underscores its commitment to nurturing well-rounded students—excelling not only in academics but also in sports and character. The athletes, backed by dedicated coaches, are set to compete in various sports, aiming to bring pride to the university and Region I. As the games unfold, UNP’s presence at the national SCUAA highlights the institution’s pursuit of excellence and unity through sports.
