The University of Northern Philippines marked Day 1 of its face-to-face sessions for the UNP Strategic Future Masterclass: Advancing Research Innovation and Strategic Vision Towards New Horizons in Higher Education at Sola Hotel, Laoag City. The program, which runs from December 11β14, brings together deans, directors, heads of offices, and executive officials in a unified effort to craft a future-ready institutional direction.
Before converging in Laoag, participants completed online sessions last December 4 and 5, where foundational concepts on futures thinking, trend analysis, and strategic foresight were introduced. These virtual sessions paved the way for deeper, more interactive discussions during the face-to-face phase.
Guiding Day 1 was Dr. Mitchville Rivera, a prominent futures thinking advocate known for his dynamic and insightful facilitation. He engaged UNP leaders in reimagining traditional structures, identifying emerging opportunities, and crafting long-term strategies that elevate research innovation and institutional resilience. His session pushed participants to reflect on UNPβs identity and aspirations amid the shifting landscape of higher education.
As the four-day in-person masterclass unfolds, Day 1 sets a strong and inspired tone. With renewed clarity, shared purpose, and a forward-looking mindset, UNP moves boldly toward shaping a strategic future, one that champions innovation, anticipates change, and positions the university at the forefront of academic transformation.
