UNP partners with India’s Assam Down Town University for International Webinar on Web-Based Nursing

The University of Northern Philippines, in partnership with Assam Down Town University (AdtU) in India, held an international virtual webinar titled “Accelerating Research Evidence Translation through Dyadic Engagement: A Developing Model for Evidence-based Practice Implementation” on August 20 via Zoom Teleconference. The event drew more than 100 participants from the Philippines and India.

Dr. Bernardo Oliber Arde, professor at the UNP College of Nursing, served as the resource speaker. He presented a pioneering model designed to bridge the gap between academic research and its real-world application in clinical settings, highlighting the role of evidence-based practice (EBP) in enabling healthcare professionals to make patient care decisions firmly grounded in the latest scientific findings.

Organized by AdtU’s Faculty of Nursing and Directorate of International Affairs, in collaboration with UNP’s International Affairs and Linkages Office, the webinar marked the first academic engagement between the two universities. It also provided faculty and students with a platform to explore EBP as a cornerstone of modern nursing.

Dr. Sally A. Jarin, Director of UNP’s International Affairs and Linkages Office, described the event as part of the university’s broader effort to strengthen international linkages and expand opportunities for its academic community to engage with global perspectives and research initiatives.

The webinar laid the groundwork for further collaboration between UNP and AdtU. Both institutions envision future activities that will prepare students to become globally competent healthcare professionals while advancing the practice of evidence-based nursing.

With the success of this initial activity, UNP and AdtU anticipate more joint initiatives in instruction, research, and professional training. The event also reflects the mission of UNP President Dr. Erwin Cadorna to position the university as a globally competitive institution by fostering international partnerships that enrich academic programs and professional development.
