UNP pioneers digital transformation with groundbreaking IMS Workshop
In a bold move to revolutionize its administrative operations, the University has taken a significant step towards digital transformation through the recently concluded a cutting-edge training workshop aimed at unifying its Human Resource, Property Management, and Records Management systems, setting a new standard for organizational efficiency in higher education institutions.
The two-day intensive workshop, held from February 18-19, 2025, was spearheaded by the Information & Communications Technology Office (ICTO) and the Office of the Vice-President for Finance and Administration (VPFAd). It involved major personnel from the Human Resource Management Office (HRMO), Property and Supply Management Office (PSMO), Records Office, and ICTO. Participants learned the key functionalities of Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS), Property Management and Inventory Systems (PMIS), and Records Management Systems (RMS), highlighting how an integrated approach can drastically enhance organizational effectiveness. This initiative comes at a crucial time when educational institutions worldwide are grappling with the challenges of modernizing their operations in the face of rapid technological change.
The workshop, led by industry expert Mr. Bonbryan Velasco of BSTech Corporation, focused on cutting-edge topics including advanced integration of Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS), Property Management and Inventory Systems (PMIS), and Records Management Systems (RMS); state-of-the-art automation strategies; and robust data security measures in the age of cyber threats.
Participants engaged in hands-on sessions, simulating real-world scenarios to test and implement their newly acquired knowledge. This practical approach ensures that the theoretical concepts learned can be immediately applied to improve university operations.
Dr. Shareen A. Navarro, Director of the Information & Communications Technology Office, highlighted the transformative potential of this initiative: “By adopting a unified approach to these essential systems, we’re not just improving efficiency; we’re creating a technological ecosystem that will drive innovation across all aspects of university management.”
This pioneering effort by UNP sets a new benchmark for higher education institutions in the Philippines and beyond. As Universities worldwide seek to modernize their operations, UNP’s integrated approach to management systems could serve as a model for others to follow.
The success of this workshop underscores UNP’s commitment to staying ahead of the curve in educational administration. By investing in cutting-edge technology and employee development, UNP is not only enhancing its operational efficiency but also preparing its workforce for the challenges of the digital age.
As UNP moves forward with implementing these integrated management systems, it stands poised to redefine standards of excellence in university management, potentially influencing policy decisions and best practices across the Philippine higher education sector.
